Festivals during the year

There are some well known festivals which take place in the Sunday’s River Valley each year. This provides a good opportunity to explore the ‘Citrus Route’ – Addo, Sunlands and Kirkwood - and take in the sights and sounds, while en-route to the festivals.

Kirkwood Wildlife Festival

The annual Wildsfees has become a big draw card, with something for everyone. This popular festival which focuses on conservation, eco-tourism, wildlife and entertainment takes place in Kirkwood over the weekend of 1 - 3 July this year.

The main event is the wildlife auction. There are also a wide variety of stalls offering a range of products. For the music lovers amongst you, there are several well known artists and bands who perform during the festival. Be sure not to miss the Parlotones, who will be performing after their successful World Tour.

Citrus Carnival

The Citrus Carnival takes place in August each year. It is held to celebrate the Citrus season. This fun-filled event provides lots of stalls and entertainment, focusing on the delicious Citrus fruit that is grown in this beautiful region.

Addo Rose and Garden Show

The popular Addo Rose and Garden Show is held annually in October. You will be spellbound by the beautiful displays on show, which incorporate over 25000 roses. The show includes garden tours, music and fun demonstrations with flowers and food. There are stalls selling fresh farm produce and various other crafts.

This world class event which started twenty eight years ago, has grown tremendously with all proceeds going to charities.
